As you configure the appliance, there are some advanced options available for configuring the appliance. To use the Appliance Management tool, you must have JavaScript enabled on your browser.
Determine the Appliance network address
To provision and use your appliance you must first identify its IP address using LVLocator.
Download LVLocator
To assist in determining the appliance network address, download a utility named LVLocator.
To download and run LVLocator

In the menu, click Downloads.
The Downloads page opens.

Click the Utilities tab.
The Utilities tab opens.

Click LVLocator to download the installer package.
-
Click Run to execute the LVLocator.exe
, or click Save and specify a location to save the LVLocator.exe
.

The LVLocator utility scans your network and locate the Appliance(s) available.
-
Select the Appliance from the list and click Go to...
The TurboRestore Appliance Management User Interface Setup page opens.
If no appliance appears in the list, verify that the Appliance is plugged in and turned on, that the Ethernet connection is working and that your desktop computer and the Appliance on are on the same network subnet.
Note: If your Appliance is in a different subnet, you must enter an IP range to search for it.

Click IP Range.
The IP Range page opens.

Type an IP range for LVLocator to search.
Networks without DHCP
If your network does not have DHCP

Contact Support for login credentials to the Appliance.

Log in to the Appliance system.
-
From the Start menu, open Settings > Control Panel.

Open Network Connections.
-
Select Local Area Connection.
-
On the left, under Network Tasks, select Change settings of this connection.
The Local Area Connection Properties page opens.

Specify an IP Address and DNS.
-
Save and exit.
-
In LVLocator, refresh the list to find the Appliance.
Set the IP Address from the command line
You can also set the IP address from the command line using the netsh
utility.
For example, from the command line, type:
netsh interface ip set address "Local Area Connection" static 10.10.5.123 255.255.255.0 10.10.5.1 1
Where:
10.10.5.123
= IP address
255.255.255.0
= Network mask
10.10.5.1
= Gateway
1
= Metric
To set the DNS from the command line, use the following example:
netsh interface ip set dns "Local Area Connection" static 10.5.3.42 primary
Where: 10.5.3.42
is the address of your primary DNS.
Provision the Appliance
To provision the appliance
- To view the TurboRestore setup page, click the Go to button in LVLocator or copy the URL from LVLocator into a browser window.
This will bring you to the Welcome Page of the Appliance Management User Interface.
- At the bottom of the page, click Continue.
The Configuration page opens, where you set the following values:

Enter the login name you use to log in to the LiveVault Web Portal. |

Enter the password you use to log in to the LiveVault Web Portal. |
TurboRestore Name |
The appliance default name appears here. Enter a new name for the appliance in this field. |
Time |
The time/date stamp and time zone for the appliance are displayed in this field. If the information is not correct for your geographic area, click Change Time.
Select the correct time zone from the list, and enter the correct data and local time in the fields provided.
Click Change to enter the changes, or click Back to cancel the changes.

- If you access the Internet through a Proxy server, click Proxy Settings and enter the values below. If you do not use a Proxy server, skip to step 6.

When finished, at the bottom of the page select Configure.
Wait for the provisioning process to complete (it can take up to five minutes to complete).
When the provisioning process is complete, you see a page indicating the Appliance is operating.
At this point, the Appliance is fully provisioned and ready to receive data.
Verify Provisioning Configuration
To verify the configuration of an existing appliance

Go to Advanced Options>>Communications Configuration.

At the bottom of the page, Click Test.
This tests the connection to the provisioning service, proxy settings (if you are using them), and your login credentials. If the test fails, verify these values, and verify that your Internet connection is working.
Advanced Options
Selecting Advanced Options enables you to perform the following tasks:

Update an appliance. Select to install updates to your appliance.

Get diagnostic logs. Select to collect diagnostic logs to send to LiveVault Support.

Reset your appliance. Select to reset the appliance back to its factory state.
Caution: Resetting an appliance destroys all data currently stored on the appliance.

Change the time/dateSelect to change the time or date and time zone of the appliance.

Restart the Service. Select to restart the appliance service.
-
Configure Proxy settings. Select to configure proxy settings and proxy authentication.
Retrieve Diagnostic Logs
If you are experiencing trouble with your appliance, there is a set of diagnostic logs stored on the appliance that might help to solve the problem. You can access the log and send it to Technical Support for assistance.
To access the diagnostic logs on the appliance

Make sure the machine is attached to your network.

From the Appliance Management User Interface, click Advanced Options.
The Advanced options page opens.

Select Diagnostic Logs.
-
Save the logs file to disk and send it to customer service for help in diagnosing your problem.
Reset an Appliance
In some cases you might want to reset your appliance back to its factory state, and then re-provision the appliance.
For example, if you set up the appliance in a test environment, and then want to reset it before putting it in a production environment, you can reset the appliance and run the configuration software again.
Resetting an appliance destroys all data backed up on this appliance.
To reset the appliance

Ensure that the appliance is attached to your network.

Open a browser window and navigate to the IP address of the appliance.
For example
http://10.10.140.1.
The Appliance Management User Interface opens.

Click Advanced Options.
The Advanced Options page opens.

Click Reset.
The Reset Appliance page opens.

Type the password to reset the appliance. To acquire the password, contact Support.

Click Reset.
The appliance software destroys all data stored on the appliance and disconnects it from the service. After resetting the appliance, you must set up the appliance again before it will operate.
Change the Time or Time zone
To set the time or time zone

Select the correct time zone from the list.

Enter the correct date and local time in the fields provided.

Click Change to enter the changes, or click Back to cancel the changes.
Restart the Service
To stop and restart the backup service after making configuration changes, complete the following step:
Note that clicking the link immediately initiates a stop request; there is no further interaction.
Communications Configuration
This page contains proxy configuration information.
