Overview
LiveVault version 9.1.1 adds support for Microsoft SQL Server 2025 and Microsoft Windows Server 2025. The specific installer being distributed for this purpose is version 9.1.1.3 (x64), signed by CyberFortress / LiveVault Corporation.
This installer uses a modern SHA-2 code-signing chain. As a result, this build is only supported on Windows Server 2016 and later. While the full 9.1.1 release supports older platforms including Server 2012 R2 and Server 2008 R2 SP1, those older systems cannot load the driver in this signed build. Customers on those older OS versions should continue using their existing agent and contact support for options.
Distribution note: This kit is being distributed manually at this time. Portal auto-upgrade and automatic distribution via the standard upgrade path will follow once a dual-signing structure is in place to cover older Windows targets. Until then, this installer should be provided directly to customers whose backup targets include Windows Server 2025 or SQL Server 2025, on servers running Windows Server 2016 or later.

Prerequisites
- Windows Server 2016 or later running on the agent server (not just the backup target)
- Local administrator rights on the server where the agent will be installed
- Existing LiveVault account and vault configuration
- Any previously installed LiveVault Backup Agent should have active backup jobs paused before upgrading
Installation Steps
- Download the installer: LVBackupX64Agent_9_1_1_3.exe
- Copy the installer to the target server.
-
Right-click the installer and select Run as administrator, or launch from an elevated command prompt:
LVBackupX64Agent_9_1_1_3.exe
- Follow the InstallShield setup wizard to complete installation.
- When prompted, provide your LiveVault vault credentials to register the agent.
- Once installation completes, confirm the agent service is running:
- Open Services (
services.msc) - Locate the LiveVault Agent service and confirm it shows Running
- Open Services (
- Log in to the LiveVault Web Management Portal and verify the agent appears with version 9.1.1.3 and that backup sources — including any SQL Server 2025 instances — are visible.
Upgrading from a Previous Agent Version
- Pause or allow any in-progress backup jobs to complete.
- Run
LVBackupX64Agent_9_1_1_3.exeas administrator — the installer handles the upgrade automatically. - Your existing vault registration and backup policy configuration will be preserved.
- After the upgrade, verify that backup jobs resume and that new targets (SQL Server 2025, Windows Server 2025) are now available.
Do not manually uninstall the previous agent before running the new installer. Doing so risks losing your backup configuration.
Verifying SQL Server 2025 / Windows Server 2025 Backup
After installation:
- Log in to the LiveVault Web Management Portal and navigate to the target server.
- Confirm the agent version shown is 9.1.1.3.
- Under backup sources, confirm SQL Server 2025 instances are listed and selectable.
- Run a test backup and confirm it completes successfully.
Known Issues
There are no known issues in LiveVault 9.1.1.
Troubleshooting
Agent service does not start after installation
- Confirm the server OS is Windows Server 2016 or later. This installer will not run correctly on older platforms.
- Check Windows Event Viewer (Application and System logs) for driver or code-signing errors.
- Ensure the installer was run with full administrator privileges.
SQL Server 2025 instances not appearing in the portal
- Confirm the SQL Server service is running on the target server.
- If using named SQL instances, ensure the SQL Server Browser service is running.
- Allow a few minutes after agent startup for instance discovery to complete, then refresh the portal.
Customer is on Windows Server 2012 R2 or older
- This installer is not supported on those platforms. The customer should remain on their current agent version. Contact support for guidance on upgrade path options pending the dual-signing release.
